Tournament Parking may claim to be “the market leader” but its Shortland St carpark in central Auckland is a poorly-lit, dank and smelly edifice that would not be out of place in battered Baghdad.
The lifts don’t work and “the team” at Tournament – owed by investors James Pierce Brown and Simon Rowntree – did not respond yesterday to a complaint from a new lease customer.
Barely two weeks into a paid-in-advance lease on a sixth-floor carpark, the customer was brassed off to discover inadequate lighting after dark and unreliable lifts that didn’t work.
One of two staircases customers had to use because the lifts were out of action was dirty, dank and smelt like a public toilet, the customer told Tournament Parking in an emailed complaint.
The customer said he was appalled by the condition of the carpark building and demanded free parking at least until the lifts were fixed.
Tournament Parking’s website claimed it was “recognised as the market leader in the provision of parking management and operations…” and claimed to deliver “maximum value, return and service in car parking investments and infrastructure…”
Tournament didn’t respond.
