An Auckland lobby group opposing some of the city's looming governance changes will protest outside the offices of local National Party MPs today and deliver an open letter to the Government expressing their concerns.

The Our Auckland coalition said protests would be held outside the local offices of Paula Bennett and Nikki Kaye, and a letter to the Government would outline changes the group wanted to see incorporated into the super city bill before it is passed.

The Local Government (Auckland Law Reform) Bill last night passed its second reading and is now set to go through its committee stage.

Our Auckland spokesperson Mels Barton said changes made to the bill before it went through Parliament last night didn't go far enough and a recent referendum which attracted over 9000 votes reflected that.
