Sothebys in Queenstown is marketing Homestead Bay overlooking Lake Wakatipu on Remarkables Station next to Jack’s Point golf resort.

The trophy property has been owned by three generations of the Jardine family after being founded in 1861 by Queenstown’s first European settler William Rees. The 45ha site comes with development potential for a resort village plus 27 less intensive building sites.

The station is a working farm that descends down terraces to the lake.

The development zone incorporates three areas for development – a village precinct allowing residential and visitor accommodation development including bars and restaurants; an open space horticultural area for horticultural and residential activities; and an open space residential area, for low-level residential dwellings close to the foreshore.

The village zone allows commercial, residential and visitor accommodation with a maximum height level of 10 metres above ground level and maximum building coverage within of 21,500sq m.

The property is about 10 minutes’ drive to Queenstown airport and the Remarkables Park Town Centre. Also on the market is the 1826ha Kawarau Station on the road from Cromwell to Queenstown, which has 14km of waterfront land along the Kawarau River.
