Radio NZ new media manager Richard Hulse has won election to InternetNZ’s council.
Mr Hulse pitched his technical knowledge, governance skills and advocacy for causes including net neutrality and open source software.
He won one of three positions up for grabs on the 12-person council under a preferential voting system with staggered three-year terms.
The other two spots were won by Kelly Buehler - a business consultant formerly with NZ Post and, like Mr Hulse, a newcomer – and Brenda Wallace, who was re-elected.
Mr Hulse and Ms Buehler replace Lance Wiggs and Hamish Macewan, both of whom stood down to focus on other projects.
The non-profit’s AGM, held last night in Wellington, also saw Jamie Baddeley re-elected as president and Joy Liddicoat re-elected as vice president.
InternetNZ administers the .nz domain, and advocates for an open, uncapturable internet.
Last year it made a loss of $519,000 on revenue of $8.8 million.
