The public's views on options for increasing New Zealand's savings have been sought by a group considering how to improve the country's savings and investment levels, and decrease its reliance on overseas capital.
The Savings Working Group has had its first meeting, and will meet again towards the end of the month.
In the meantime, members are approaching experts for information and advice on savings-related research, and want public submissions.
The savings group will provide ministers with a range of options by January 2011.
