Labour MP Shane Jones, who used his ministerial credit card to pay for porn movies, is to trial a new job that could lead to him quitting Parliament.

TV3 News said Mr Jones had agreed to host a RadioLive programme next week and it could turn into a full time job.

Mr Jones said it was too soon to say what his future might be and he had to find out whether he was any good on air.

His political career was wrecked when records of his spending while he was a minister in the previous government were released to the media, along with the rest of the Labour cabinet.

They showed he used his ministerial credit card for numerous personal purchases, which he paid back, and for porn movies in hotels when he was away from home.

Party leader Phil Goff demoted him and stripped him of his portfolio responsibilities.

Mr Jones said he was determined to rehabilitate himself, although his chances of gaining an important position in his party are considered to be zero.
