Shanks copyright bill speech 'like a washing machine trying to explain love to a ceiling tile'
The online backlash against the Copyright Amendment Bill passed under urgency this morning has begun. 'Ware the wrath of the net!
And so the backlash begins.
The internet community has voiced its dissatisfaction with the new Copyright (Infringing File Sharing) Amendment Bill passed this morning with a series of internet parodies and Twitter rage.
The parodies include a video (below) by Kurt Sharpe likening National MP Katrina Shanks' speech regarding the Bill to that of the incoherent ramblings of Miss Teen USA, South Carolina, 2007.
Another parody circling the net is the poster depicting Jonathan Young as the File-Sharing Terminator, saying "I need your clothes, your boots and your interwebs."
Twitter is awash with outrage at the bill, with tweets slamming the Skynet/Internet reference and the Government. Tweets praising the Greens party and in particular, Gareth Hughes, who opposed the Bill, are prevalent.
Meanwhile the mockery of the Nats continues, with tweets like that from Internet NZ councillor Nathan Torkington likening Ms Shanks' speech to a Fisher and Paykel washing machine trying to explain love to a ceiling tile.
