Sky TV funds Sean Plunket TV show

RadioLive host Sean Plunket will get his own political show on Prime TV.
Prime Time with Sean Plunket will screen on Friday nights at 9.30pm in the lead up to the general election.
Sky TV spokeswoman Kirsty Way says the production is fully funded by the NZX-listed broadcaster, and will be shot in Sky’s studios.
The nine episodes of the show will be produced by former The Nation production house Front Page Productions.
Late last year Front Page executive producer Richard Harman told NBR ONLINE he had plans for a new weekly current affairs show to run on Prime, and was in talks with Mr Plunket to host it. However New Zealand on Air did not fund the show.
Mr Harman says the format will follow CNN’s Crossfire which has two teams of two debate issues.
He promises at least two politicians will appear on the show each week, as well as experts.
Content featured will include traditional topics like taxation but Mr Harman also wants to address issues such as immigration.
“There is a real gap in the market for a debate show as there is enough one-on-one interviewing.”
He says the show is different from failed TV3 format The Vote because it will be less formal.
