Yesterday, those who live north of the Bombay Hills got to feel a little of the XT pain so familiar to those live south of Taupo. 200 cellsites went haywire, causing dropped calls and delayed txts.
But, for Aucklanders, no sweetener will follow.
After Telecom’s second XT outage, in January, it announced a $5 million compensation package for customers south of Taupo.
And after the fourth XT outage, in February, $10 million in compo was announced, centered around 50%-off, three-month “loyalty discounts” for consumer and business customers who stuck with Telecom’s network.
But yesterday’s half-day outage in Auckland and Northland was not enough for Telecom to open its wallet.
Spokeswoman Katherine Murphy said there would be no compensation in the wake of the 9am to midday disruption.
