The revamp of South Canterbury Finance’s board of directors is gradually taking shape with Bill Baylis appointed new independent chairman today.
Mr Baylis – a former chairman of Pyne Gould Guinness and PGG Wrightson – moves into the top chair after South Canterbury founder Allan Hubbard stepped down to become “president for life”.
With another director – Ed Sullivan – also retiring last month, the board is now wide open as the company hunts for a new cornerstone shareholder.
Remaining South Canterbury directors are Stuart McLauchlan of Dunedin and Denham Shale of Auckland.
In a short statement Mr Baylis said the board was committed to South Canterbury’s turnaround.
“South Canterbury Finance is making solid progress towards rebuilding a sound financial footing for the future,” he said.
