A Stephen Tindall-founded company has launched an online tool to help employers to bring the highly skilled Kiwi expats home.
The Kiwi Expat Association (Kea), which was set up in 2001 by the prominent businessman, developed the Kea Job Community with the hope to bring back some of the 25% of New Zealand’s highly skilled and experienced population living offshore.
The company, which has a membership of 30,000 Kiwi expats worldwide, was originally set up to give candidates around the world access to a large number of jobs in different industries worldwide.
Kea chief executive Ross McConnell said following the recession the organistion increased its focus looking at ways it can use its network to support the economic performance of New Zealand.
“For the past nine years, the focus of Kea has been to build and support an offshore network of global citizens who take an active interest in the future of New Zealand.”
Mr McConnell said according to the company’s survey 50% of expats intended to return home while a further 25% would come back home for the right opportunity.
“Attracting some of this talent back home is a necessity for New Zealand to achieve its economic growth targets and giving Kiwi employers access to our network is a first step.
“It is then up to New Zealand employers to retain this talent so we can benefit from their international experience and networks which will ultimately help our businesses grow on a global scale.”
