UPDATED: A flight from Queenstown (NZ5406 for 3:00pm) has been cancelled, but its uncertain as to whether this has been caused by poor weather conditions in Wellington or if this is due to time/schedule delays.

High winds across the North Island have forced a Wellington-bound flight from Auckland to turn back due to dangerous landing conditions.
MetService has issued a warning to Wellington residents to take precautions after winds were forecast to reach 130kmh today.
Air NZ spokesman Mark Street said two attempts to land at Wellington Airport were made by the pilot but poor wind conditions ultimately led to the decision to turn back to Auckland.
An outbound flight NZ432 Wellington-Auckland was cancelled due to these poor conditions after it was scheduled to depart at midday.
With winds recorded at 120kmh in Kelburn this morning, it is predicted conditions will worsen before calming down.
MetService has warned that high winds have the potential to damage insecure structures, powerlines and trees, further impairing driving conditions already being affected by the strong winds.
