Waikato University management students have come up with a bold plan for Tompkins Wake to be the first Hamilton law firm to go national.
The students reckon the law firm should specialize in commercial and agricultural law, tout for clients at farming events such as national field days and A and P shows and encourage staff to get overseas experience.
National domination should include merging with a law firm outside Hamilton and expanding into Taranaki, Wellington and Canterbury.
They planned for the firm to be the first national law firm with a head office in Hamilton by 2022.
Their recommendations won senior strategy students $2500 in a recent business case competition.
Tompkins Wake chief executive Richard Rowley said some of the students’ ideas were already being done and some had been rejected.
Mr Rowley said the students also presented new ideas which would be discussed.
