Chistchurch based radio communications company strikes two new deals to assist emergency services in Brazil.
Christchurch company Tait Radio Communications has struck an export deal to South America securing two new deals in Brazil.
Hi-tech digital mobile radios designed and manufactured by the Kiwi based company will be used by military police fighting organised crime in the state of Paraná.
The P25 digital radio, which is currently used by the New Zealand Police, allows improved communications within and between agencies including emergency services.
‘Polícia Militar do Paraná’ officers, responsible for policing across Paraná’s 77,000 square miles and over 10 million people, will use the highly secure encrypted P25 mobile radios in their vehicles, mainly in the capital of Curitiba.
Meanwhile, Brazil’s Sao Paulo Civil Police has stepped up to a new $US4 million upgrade of its existing Tait P25 digital radio network, which will assist officers against organised crime in the southern hemisphere’s largest metropolis of more than 11 million people.
Frank Owen, Tait Radio Communications managing director, said South America has great market potential and that further developments in the industry would prove highly beneficial for both parties.
“North and South America are important regions for Tait and we continue to make excellent progress in our strategy to deliver and support networks that public safety users can rely on and services that add real value for our clients.”
