Telecom's retail division, and its business and services wing Gen-i, have signed on as retail service providers for Ultrafast Fibre - the Wel Networks-led consortium that won the Ultrafast Broadband (UFB) contracts for Hamilton, Tauranga, Wanganui, Hawera, Cambridge, Te Awamutu, Tokoroa and New Plymouth.
Ultrafast Fibre, with network partner Huawei, has begun a roll-out that will run through to 2016.
The first major tranche of homes and businesses will be connected in July.
There was no immediate word from Telecom on the pricing of its service through Ultrafast Fibre.
Last month, Orcon became the first major ISP to publish UFB pricing and start signing up customers.
Orcon has partnered with Ultrafast Fibre, plus Christchurch winner Enable and Chorus (responsible for the UFB for most of the rest of the country), and is offering home plans from $75 per month, and business plans from $169 - with free connection for the first wave of residential customers.
Ultrafast Fibre has also signed CallPlus/Slingshot, WorldXChange, Snap and FX Networks, among others, as retail partners.
