TelstraClear chief executive Allan Freeth has named the company’s new chief financial officer as Alex Ball.

Mr Ball was previously Vector's CFO. He starts at TelstraClear on 6 October and replaces Vanessa Hannan, who has returned to Telstra in Australia.

TelstraClear merged operations with its parent, Telstra, in December 2009.

Telstra's Kiwi ex-pat chief executive, Daivd Thodey, today announced an internal restructure that saw the creation of a new Customer Sales and Service division, headed by Gordon Ballantyne in the newly created position of chief customer officer.

A TelstraClear rep told NBR the changes across the Tasman would have no impact locally. "We already have a head of customer experience [Maggie Robertson]".

The Telstra restructure also saw the creation of an Applications and Ventures Group, which will focus on developing health, education, e-commerce, energy and other applications for the National Broadband Network (NBN).

Telstra shares (ASX: TLS) were flat at $A2.95 in late trading.
