The pay gap between men and women has been put in the spotlight this week but NBR has discovered another pay gap scandal for Catherine Delahunty and Helen Kelly to campaign against.

Lesbians get paid more than straight women, with the wage gap as much as 6%, according to some international studies.

The wage premium has mystified researchers, as it persists even after accounting for variables such as occupation, education level, ethnicity and other socio-economic factors.

Theories include lower “maternity risk” and more aggressive wage negotiations by lesbians.

This suggests that if women want to get paid as much as their male colleagues they could, if not switch sides completely, at least get a short haircut and join the local soccer team.
