Fisher&Paykel Healthcare has appointed Tony Carter as an independent director of the company, starting December 1.
Mr Carter, a trained engineer, has retired as managing director of supermarket operator Foodstuffs New Zealand, and is resigning as head of Foodstuffs Auckland at the start of December.
He also joins the Air New Zealand board on December 1, and is a director of Vector and Fletcher Building.
Director Sir Colin Maiden, a former chairman and board member for 32 years, will retire in February.
Shares in F&P Healthcare were down 2c at $3.00 in mid-afternoon trading.
