Air New Zealand, which recently warned it would make a half-year loss, is turning to more edgy viral videos to boost its business.
The airline's general manager of marketing and communications, Mike Tod - currently in LA - said the airline has shot new "Rico" clips that feature Lindsay Lohan, David Hasselhof and reality TV star Guliana Rancic (Was Charlie Sheen unavailable? - Editor).
Ms Lohan, who has fallen foul of the law for a series of drink drive offences, missed court dates and broken probation, is currently under house arrest pending a court appearance on a jewellery theft charge.
Time Warner gossip site TMZ.com reported Ms Lohan filmed the Air New Zealand clip while confined to her home.
Air New Zealand said its series of YouTube clips, which have also featured Snoop Dogg, camp fitness guru Richard Simmons and broadcaster Paul Henry, have garnered coverage from Time magazine, The New York Times, CNN and other media.
The airline also got namechecked on Graeme Norton's talkshow for the BBC. Mr Norton asked Snoop Dogg, decked out in his trademark gansta shades, if he was not a little "off-brand" for Air New Zealand.
The airline's shares (NZX: AIR) were trading at $1.10 late afternoon, a 52-week low.
