Ernie has left the building.
It was the iconic Telecommunications Users Association chief executive's final day in the office today.
Ernie Newman leaves big shoes to fill; indeed, of such a size that the process of replacing him is still in its formative stages.
Hunt goes global
Chairman Pat O'Connell said in a statement this afternoon that "Tuanz now looks forward and the board is actively exploring many options both domestically and internationally to secure the new CEO."
In the interim, Tuanz business development manager Katherine Hall and Mr O'Connell are helping to fill the gap left by The Newmanator.
Going solo
As NBR originally reported on September 21, Mr Newman putting out his shingle.
The Tuanz boss used his penultimate After 5 networking event to announce his new venture: a one-man consulting operation.
Ernie Newman Consulting Ltd is billed as a specialist in medium-term projects.
Mr Newman told NBR he would be "going under the radar" with his new career (chances of that happening: zero). Check out his pitch on his new website.
Other arrivals and departures
Meanwhile, Duncan Blair, who has spent six years at Orcon - most recently as head of brand and communications, wowing the Twitterati at various social networking events - is in his final few days with the Kordia-owned ISP.
Mr Blair told NBR he was off to join "a little creative shop" called &some.
And Huawei has appointed a public affairs manager for New Zealand.
He is Mark Champion, who comes to the Chinese telecommunications equipment maker from Champion Communications.
His previous roles include public affairs manager for Air New Zealand, chief executive of CAANZ, executive director of the Advertising Federation of Australia, TVNZ executive producer ... and corporate communications manager for Vodafone NZ.
