TV3 is claiming a succcessful first week for its morning news programme, Firstline.

After the first four days, Firstline ended on a 12.2% average share in the 25-54 demographic, TV3 owner MediaWorks said in a statement.

After four days on air, over 318,000 people aged 5+ had tuned in to view Firstline, Mediaworks said, quoting Nielsen figures.

MediaWorks said that TVNZ's Breakfast share in the 25-54 demographic has decreased since TV3 began a morning news bulletin in the wake of the Feburary 22 quake (which was subsequently made permanent with the launch of Firstline).

For the four weeks prior to Firstline's launch this week, Breakfast’s share has decreased by 7.7% in the 25-54 demographic, Mediaworks said.
