TV3 claims victory in election war

Broadcaster says it beat TV1 in the 25-54 demographic for the first time since it started covering elections. PLUS: The Nation beats Q&A.

TV3 says on Saturday night, for the first time since it began covering elections, it captured more viewers than TV One.
The MediaWorks channel had an average 27.5% share in the 25-54 year-old demographic. TV One's averaged a 22. 1% share.
TV3's coverage featured John Campbell, Paul Henry, Therese Arseneau, Linda Clark, Chris Trotter, Rodney Hide and John Tamihere.
The state broadcaster's coverage featured Mark Sainsbury, Guyon Espiner, Corin Dann and Simon Dallow in the studio, field reporters Peter Williams and Greg Boyed and "light relief" from Petra Bagust, Tamati Coffey and Te Radar - the latter of whom had a pen thrown at him by Mr Dallow after suggesting the Listener's live blog negated the need to watch any broadcast media.
The day after
TV3's is also claiming a ratings victory for post-match analysis.
Nielsen figures fowarded to NBR by producer Richard Harman show The Nation's two-hour post-election special on Sunday had a 3% share of among 25-54 year-old viewers - twice the share of Q&A on TV1, which registered a 1.5% share.
TV3's the nation is hosted by Duncan Garner and Sean Plunket.
TV1's Q&A is fronted by Guyon Espiner.
