TVNZ sales boss to head new Sky TV shopping channel
Mediaworks, TVNZ veteran jumps to new Sky channel.
The Shopping Channel has named Alistair Duff as its CEO
Mr Duff will leave his current role as TVNZ’s general manager media sales to take up the job of CEO at The Shopping Channel on June.
He has a long career in sales and production both at TV3 and, for the last ten years, TVNZ.

Ogilvy boss launches shopping channel on Sky
May 6: A new shopping channel will launch on Sky TV on October 1, in what its backer says is a New Zealand first.
"The Shopping Channel" will screen on Sky channel 18, and model itself on the formats pioneered by the Home Shopping Network and QVC, in the US with "up to eight hours of live TV a day".
The new channel will also be live streamed over the internet, and available on YouTube.
This uniquely powerful platform will present New Zealand’s retailers and importers with an opportunity to pitch products not appropriate for their current retail formats, delivering much-needed growth in tough economic times.
A majority of the content will be live television with some of the country’s favourite personalities bringing viewers a huge choice of products and services not readily available in New Zealand retail today.
The new channel is co-owned by its creator, Ogilvy managing director of Greg Partington and owner of Hypermedia, and a number of other advertising-related companies
“I’ve long been associated with New Zealand retail through the advertising agency including long term partnerships with Briscoe Group and Progressive Enterprises," Mr Partington said in a statement.
According to industry rumour, Mr Partington initially planned to launch The Shopping Channel on the frequency used by the free-to-air TVNZ7.
In the final event, TVNZ7 is being turned into a TVNZ repeats channel.
Sky TV shares [NZX:SKT] closed down 0.0% to $5.57 on Friday.
They have a 52-week range of $4.92 to $5.92.
