Employers warned of an increase in staff churn and greater pressure to retain top talent.
Two-thirds of New Zealand professionals are hoping to move jobs in the next three months, according to a recent poll by global recruitment consultancy Robert Walters.
The poll found 66% of New Zealand professionals are looking to jump ship, in line with the overall figure of 66% from the global poll of more than 8,000 workers.
The poll found that professionals in Australia were most keen to move in the next three months (72% of respondents), followed by Hong Kong (68%), Singapore (68%) and the United Kingdom (67%), with New Zealand coming a close fifth.
Richard Manthel, managing director at Robert Walters New Zealand, said, “These figures indicate that professionals are optimistic about the job market and looking to take advantage of the improved economic conditions seen in many countries, particularly those in the Asia-Pacific region.
“With so many job-seekers looking to move in the next three months, employers are likely to face an increase in staff churn and greater pressure to retain their top talent.”
The poll, conducted over December/January, found that just 6% of respondents weren’t hoping to move jobs in the next 12 months.
