Vodafone Australia may be offering iPad 3G owners unlimited data for $A49, and 250MB for $A9.95 (see screen shot below), but Kiwis are being offered some pretty routine plans.
Vodafone NZ's tepid plans are good news for Telecom, 2degrees and others who are lining up to offer their own Mico-SIMs (a Micro-SIM being the new format SIM card that, at present, is only supported by the iPhone 4 and iPad 3G).
Vodafone NZ's two iPad plans are:
Every iPad 3G sold in New Zealand will come with a Vodafone Micro-SIM.
But Vodafone will not sell the iPad 3G itself, and will not offer any subsidy as it does with most mobiles, netbooks and other devices on its network.
The tablet will only be available through Apple's NZ online store, and Apple retailers.
Some iPhone users have asked if they can share one data account between their handset and an iPad. The answer from Vodafone: no. It's one account per device.
Vodafone has listed its iPad plans on a new website, vodafone.co.nz/ipad.
Apple has launched its own iPad site, apple.com/nz/ipad, where customers can register interest. iPad device pricing is expected to be (all incl GST):
16GB WiFi: $799
32GB WiFi: $979
64GB WiFi: $1179
16GB 3G + WiFi: $999
32GB 3G + WiF: $1179
64GB + WiF3G: $1349
BELOW: Those Vodafone Australia plans in full (this is why it's good to have three official carriers rather than one):
