Vodafone solves day-long Twitter glitch

Images, video and at times the social network itself go AWOL.

UPDATE 11pm: Vodafone customers can now access Twitter again. The telco has yet to explain the cause of the problem that fouled up access to the social network for its mobile and fixed line customers from late Friday to late Saturday.

EARLIER: Vodafone customers have been hit by a technical issue that prevents Twitter images and video from displaying — or at times the social network loading at all.

The telco tells NBR ONLINE it is looking into the issue, which first struck Friday night.

As of early Saturday evening, the issue was still not resolved, and Vodafone was unable to update on its cause or estimated time to fix. A spokesman could only point NBR to Vodafone's official update (here) which offers nothing beyond acknowledging the problem exists.

The issue was first noted by the social media mob, which deduced it was affecting Vodafone customers only (see NBR Technology Editor Chris Keall's timeline).

The glitch is affecting both landline and mobile customers.

Vodafone told NBR early Saturday night, "Our engineers are working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.  We are unable to give an estimated time for resolution at this stage."
