Wellington City Council is calling for expressions of interest for website design services.
The Expression of Interest (EOI) was released today and said the council was looking to redevelop the look and feel of its website, in order to make it more “customer centric”.
The EOI outlines changes to be made to the website including public self-help options, which it says would save time and funding.
Wellington City Council organisational services director Julian Moore said the council was looking to make it easier for users of the website to get the information they wanted. He said previously, the website, while award winning when it was launched, was more about telling the world what the council was about rather than being designed from a customer’s point of view.
The EOI document says the council envisaged adding other online services and transactions over the years with possibilities including ePayments and facilities booking.
“Wellington City Council will take a lead role in the development of shared services between other Councils in the Wellington region.”
Mr Moore said these shared services included allowing other councils to use whatever Wellington City Council developed, since there was no point in each council developing its own way of doing the same service.
He said the council was already in discussion with two other councils to use its online building consent service and that whether councils paid for these services was something that would be discussed.
Mr Moore said the budget for the redesign of the website could not be revealed as the council was in a competitive pricing situation.
The EOI document said the current council website received an average of 6.830 visit per day, with the highest number of visits in the past year at 14,000 in one day. Site usage was increasing steadily, it said.
The closing date for EOI responses is October 10.
