Wellington Drive's commercial refrigeration motors have won key US certification approval after several months of tests.
Underwriters Laboratories (UL), America's product safety certification organisation, has confirmed its formal approval of Wellington Drive's new range of ECR85 and ECR95 commercial refrigeration motors.
Dr Ross Green, Wellington Drive chief executive, said the certification is a major step for the company, which now can expand into the US market. Before placing an order US consumers require to see a UL certification.
“This certification of these new products will enable us to capitalise on already-strong customer demand based on the excellent cost savings these motors offer.”
Used mainly in supermarket bulk cold storage facilities and in walk-in cool rooms, the new motors could expect electricity cost savings of approximately $10,000 annually, or $150,000 over the lifetime of the refrigeration equipment, said Dr Green.
The company’s ECR One electricity saving motors, which are used in point- of-sale bottle cooler equipment by Coca-Cola and other companies, and in supermarket display cases, also recently received UL approval.
