A multi-million dollar deal has been signed between Westpac and an ATM provider that will see 80% of the bank’s cash machines replaced with touch screens by 2019.
The deal promises to save the bank money, as well as provide a better service for customers and promote interaction between customers and staff members. The project will take nine years to complete.
NCR SelfServ will install the more than 400 ATMs across the country. The deal includes ATM and TCR hardware and software and on-site maintenance, remote support and help desk services.
Last year, the bank announced it would be opening smaller branches in a bid to improve customer service. The branches will have 24 hour lobbies that will feature the new ATMs, additional security and around the clock cash and cheque deposit facilities.
NCR South Pacific managing director Ross Checkley said; “By entering into this landmark, multi-year agreement for NCR hardware, software and services, Westpac has clearly demonstrated that it puts it customers first."
The new ATMs will also play a green role, a promise the bank has made to become more environmentally conscious. Westpac has decided on two paper saving features for the ATMs.
NCR manages more than two million points of service devices, including ATMs, kiosks and point of sale and more than half a million managed points of service.
NCR processes over US$200 billion of hosted transaction volume annually through its managed hosting and software as a service (SaaS) operations.
