Wheeler faces tough decision as election-year politics hangs balefully over OCR

Reserve Bank governor Graeme Wheeler will probably hold off hiking the official cash rate tomorrow but the signal will be to prepare for a hike in March.

If Mr Wheeler holds off tomorrow, do not rule out a 0.50% hike in March, either, rather than a more conventional 0.25% lift.
