ACC Minister Judith Collins says she isn't happy with the corporation's privacy protocols.
ACC Minister Judith Collins says she is not yet satisfied the corporation's privacy protocols are appropriate or being fully complied with.
Acknowledging controversy surrounding privacy breaches has undermined public confidence in the corporation, Ms Collins told an Employers and Manufacturers Association workplace safety conference this morning that ACC needs to do better in terms of protecting claimants' privacy.
Her comments came as controversy continues around National Party supporter Bronwyn Pullar being emailed ACC client details, and a subsequent defamation claim by Ms Collins against Labour MPs Trevor Mallard and Andrew Little, and Radio NZ.
Ms Collins declined to comment on her defamation allegation, but told the conference privacy and information security is the biggest issue facing ACC.
"These matters have undermined people's confidence in ACC," she said.
Ms Collins gave few details of plans to introduce competition to the employer scheme on how workplace accident compensation is delivered, but said "work is progressing".
"The scheme will offer employers choice only where it makes good sense to."
