South Canterbury Finance receivers are under pressure to reveal why they agreed to a sale of developer Terry Serepisos' Grand Mercure City Hotel, a deal that may cost the taxpayer large sums of money.

They are staying mum on whether they were aware a $4 million cash payment to Mr Serepisos
