On Monday, Telecom will offer a second, the LG Optimus 7Q ($899), which features both touchscreen and slide out keyboard.
Other mod-cons include a 5MP camera and a video camera and wi-fi.
The 7Q will only be available to customers of Telecom's telco and IT services division, Gen-i.
The company has yet to set a date to offer a Windows Phone 7 handset to retail customers.
NBR applauds Gen-i for supplying its customers with any handset they want, bet it iPhone, Windows Phone 7, or anything in between.
But it's hard to see how the Google Android-obsessed Telecom, as a whole, could be any less enthusiastic about Microsoft's latest attempt to gain mobile market share.
2degrees told NBR it had no plans to release a Windows Phone 7 handset from any manufacturer.
