The government is to fund training workshops to help businesses recover from the Canterbury earthquake.
Minister for Economic Development Gerry Brownlee said $100,000 would be spent on training workshops for businesses in Christchurch city, the Selwyn district and North Canterbury during the next six months.
Training would be organised by the Canterbury Development Corporation and the Canterbury Employers' Chamber of Commerce, and delivered by training providers throughout the region.
"The aim is to help businesses return to normal trading as soon as possible and set them up for future growth," Mr Brownlee said.
"It will also provide a way for businesses to use existing relationships and form new networks that will help the region recover."
Training would be available to the owners or managers of Canterbury business which were trading commercially starting in a fortnight.
Three-hour training workshops would cover managing cashflow, debt recovery and credit management, retaining customers, destination marketing, and collaboration techniques.
