Hollywood actress Anna Faris and New Zealand comedian Rhys Darby star in Air New Zealand's [NZX: AIR] latest safety video.

Shot at Warner Bros Studios in Los Angeles, the video hits on several different film genres as Darby tries to convince Faris, star of the TV show Mom and the Scary Movie films, to play a role in the safety video with him.

They are seen as cops, in a Paris street scene, horror film characters and in a western, helped at various stages by two Air New Zealand cabin crew.

More than 20 extras were also involved in shooting Safety in Hollywood, including Chester the Chihuahua, who has appeared in Transformers and Grey’s Anatomy.

Air New Zealand's head of global brand, Jodi Williams, says Warner Bros also helped to produce the airline’s Hobbit inflight safety videos.

“Anna and Rhys make a great comedic duo and really bring this safety video to life, entertaining customers while at the same time imparting key safety messages,” she says.

"Collectively [the safety videos have] attracted more than 83 million views online and featured in international news outlets like CNN, BBC, Time.com and the Daily Mail."

Faris says Air New Zealand has redefined safety videos with its creative approach.

"It’s so easy to tune out when watching a traditional safety video, so it comes as such a delightful surprise when you get something that’s really fun and funny.”
