IRD asks Kiwis abroad to refund cost of living payment
But the tax department won’t be coming after those who refuse.

New Zealanders living abroad who mistakenly received last year’s cost of living payment were shocked to receive a letter from Inland Revenue asking them to pay the money back.
But IRD has told NBR it would not be taking any enforcement action against those who failed to do so.
