Papers were filed in the North Shore District Court today.
An extradition had to be filed within 45 days of Mr Dotcom's arrest.
The alleged internet pirate, along with co-defendants Mathias Ortmann, Bram van der Kolk and Finn Batato, is on bail ahead of the extradition hearing, expected to take place during August.
