Highly-touted robotics firm PowerON collapses in ‘perfect storm’

The startup’s chair says the company ran out of cash after a key funding deal fell through late last year.

PowerON had developed sensor technology which enabled touch for robots, informing how much force was needed to grab something.

Auckland-based robotics startup PowerON, which attracted capital from a number of high-profile investors, has failed.

Liquidator Amanda Atkins from Chapman Atkins was appointed to the company on Tuesday afternoon, following a special resolution of its shareholders.

The company had 11 full-time
