Running counter to rivals Telecom and Vodafone, 2degrees this morning announced plan to open a second local all centre, in Christchurch.
The centre, which will open later in the year, will complement the carrier's existing Auckland support operation.
2degrees chief executive Eric Hertz said he expected the new Christchurch operation to employ around 80.
It will be located in the quake garden city's CBD.
This morning, Vodafone NZ said it had no plans to repatriate any call centre jobs, despite its Egyptian facility going offline.
Around one-third of Telecom's helpdesk operation is outsourced to a call centre contractor in the Philippines.
