A reporter for Australia’s Channel Nine has admitted she followed an order to “make some up herself” after finding no signs among a tiny crowd gathered to meet the future King at Auckland airport.
According to an ABC story, the TV reporter was told by her bosses in Sydney to create some buzz herself.
She proceeded to pen some “I love William placards” which she handed out to women in the half-dozen strong crowd to hold.
The reporter told ABC it was a "light hearted running joke on breakfast television".
