Axos Systems appoints managing director

Jamie Baddeley has been appointed as the managing director of Simply Group subsidiary company Axos Systems as the company continues to grow.

Simply Group managing director Murray Dyer says he is pleased to be investing further capital into growing the business.

“This new capital for growth will increase Simply Group's shareholding from 50% to 70%. To maintain momentum and independence we are also pleased to advise that Jamie Baddeley, previously the general manager of SmartCo Ltd, will take on the role of managing director for Axos Systems effective June 2018.

“Jamie’s priority will be to service existing clients to provide them with a greater customer experience, along with growing the capability to support the very strong pipeline of business that Axos Systems has successfully built up.”

Stephen Peterson, who stepped away from Simply Group’s Simply Energy business earlier this year, is acting as interim chief executive until Mr Baddeley comes on board. Mr Peterson will continue to support Mr Baddeley and the broader business along with James Hutchins, who is assisting with client project implementations and the existing Axos Systems product team of Greg Maddigan, Henry Maddocks and Eric Wagman.

Mr Dyer says “We are very excited by the potential for our leading smart meter enabled meter data management and billing systems to set the standard in New Zealand and internationally and are delighted to have Jamie on board to lead this next stage of our growth.”

“Jamie brings a combination of valuable experience in both growth companies and the energy sector. He was a key part of the founding team that took FX Networks from startup to a material player in the country’s telecommunications market with more than $50 million in annual sales when it was later sold to Vocus for $115m in 2014,” he notes.

Mr Dyer says Mr Baddeley’s more recent experience in the energy sector with Smartco is a combination that can deliver real value to Axos Systems’ customers and contribute to the Simply Group in a meaningful way.
