Former high-flying merchant banker and now troubled property developer Bill Birnie joined the likes of Hamish Carter and Mahe Drysdale at the KEA New Zealander of the Year awards on Wednesday night.
Mr Birnie seemed happy to mingle with the country's celebrated sportsmen at the SPARC table despite of his recent court appearances.
However, Birnie disappeared faster than Mahe can row before the National Business Review could catch him.
