"The important issues for Botany are core Green Party issues. Keeping our assets in Kiwi ownership, better transport and open, honest government are key concerns we all share," Mr Leckinger said.
He recently returned to Auckland after four years in Wellington working as both a ministerial adviser and researcher at Parliament.
He has worked for Médecins Sans Frontières, managing aid projects in war torn areas of Somalia and Burma. He has a MSc in Renewable Energy and has managed and owned building automation companies both here and abroad.
The byelection will be held on March 5.
