No frills airline Jetstar is adding another Airbus to its New Zealand fleet and says larger aircraft could be on the way to offer longer-haul international fights beyond the Tasman.

Jetstar will add a seventh 177-seat Airbus A320 to for use on New Zealand domestic and trans-Tasman flights later this year.

The airline also said today it’s considering introducing larger two-class A330-200 aircraft here to provide its first long-haul international flights to New Zealand.

The A330-200 aircraft carry 303 passengers and provide Jetstar’s international business class ‘StarClass’.

Jetstar chief executive Bruce Buchanan said there were plans to develop a number of new markets with these aircraft, with more information about the new flights available over the next six weeks.

“Jetstar now has a pathway towards future strategic growth in New Zealand through our ongoing success and strong customer demand for our low fare services,” he said.

The extra airbus will create bout 50 new jobs for Jetstar’s NZ operation sin pilot, cabin crew, engineering, airport customer service areas – growing to beyond 300 jobs.
