A Polish man living in Germany had an unusual diagnosis when he went to see a doctor after suffering from constant headaches – he had a bullet stuck in his head.

The .22 calibre bullet was discovered after the 35-year-old went to have what he thought was a cyst removed.

When shown the 5.6mm projectile he said he remembered receiving a blow to the head about midnight at a New Year party “in 2004 or 2005” but had forgotten about it because he was drunk at the time.

Fortunately for him the bullet didn’t penetrate his skull, instead getting lodged in his scalp where the wound healed around it.

A police spokesman said the bullet may have been from a shot fired in the air in celebration that had entered his head on the way down.
