No reason was given for the move.

Media have been refused entry to GeoOp’s special meeting underway in Auckland.

NBR was stopped by security and was given no reason for the refusal.

NZX-listed companies have the right to bar media from meetings, but it is an extremely rare practice.

The gagging of media follows GeoOp [NZX: GEO] chairman (and former NZX boss) Mark Weldon's resignation from MediaWorks as chief executive.

The GeoOp meeting is for a shareholder vote on whether the company should acquire Australian firm InterfaceIT for $9 million.

Shareholders will also decide on the appointment of InterfaceIT chairman Roger Sharp to the board. He will replace Mr Weldon as GeoOp chairman. Mr Weldon will stay on as a director.

NBR has requested an interview with GeoOp chief executive Anna Cicognani for this afternoon.
