Broadcaster Paul Holmes is likely to remain in an induced coma at Auckland Hospital this weekend after heart surgery left him in a serious but stable condition.

A statement from Newstalk ZB said the 62-year-old was likely to remain in a coma to give his body time to heal.

Doctors earlier said there were no complications with four-hour surgery to remove a blockage in his heart.
