Primary sector agrees on plan to ping emissions outside the ETS
Methane treated less harshly than other emissions through 'farm-level split gas levy'.
Methan from cows belching will be treated differently under the emission plan for the primary sector.
Farmers will be charged with calculating their own methane and other gas emissions and charged accordingly in what is being called a “practical, credible and more effective alternative” to being included in the Emissions Trading Scheme.
