The Reserve Bank of New Zealand today released non-binding guidance to non-bank deposit takers (NBDTs) on quantitative liquidity requirements.

From December 1 regulations require an NBDT's trust deed to include appropriate quantitative liquidity requirements.

Deputy governor Grant Spencer said the guidelines were intended to help the sector develop quantitative liquidity requirements that were appropriate for an NBDT, and therefore meet their obligations under the regulations.

"They outline the matters that an NBDT and trustee should consider in setting quantitative liquidity requirements," Mr Spencer said.
