Biotech forestry specialist South Carolina-based ArborGen, one-third owned by New Zealand-listed Rubicon, plans an initial public offering in the United States.

ArborGen is a joint venture of US-based International Paper Co, MeadWestvaco Crop and Rubicon and plans to raise $US75 million to build new headquarters, research laboratories and pay down debt.

The number of shares to be offered and the price range for the IPO have not yet been determined, the company said in a statement to the NZX over the weekend.
